Tryout Week
Tryouts will focus on placing athletes in the best position for development and to provide opportunities for the athlete to achieve personal goals and contribute towards achieving team objectives. It is highly recommended that athletes prepare for the physical demands for tryouts, along with sharpening one's technical skills. Tuesday and Thursday Summer soccer sessions are offered to assist in preparing for tryouts, however athletes should assess their level of preparedness and create their own individual plan to arrive at tryouts well prepared.
Tryouts will have a heavy focus on fitness training, along with technical skills assessments and small group games. Each day will also include full-sided games aligned along grade and skill levels. Fitness training will include timed and non-timed sprints, shuttles, relays and the mile run.
The best skill preparation is to focus on the basics of being able to consistently deliver strong and accurate passes of various distances, along with trapping and controlling the ball at speed and under pressure.
